Halong Bay at Hanoi is quite an experience. However, it is only a REAL experience if you stay overnight in one of these junks. Do not stay over at a hotel on land because you will be missing all the fun in Halong Bay.
This is the Minh Hai junk which I used. It was clean, the rooms were nice and the staff was very pleasant. If you ever decide to go Halong Bay, make sure you stay in one of these junks. If you don't, you are missing out.

beautiful boat. wouldn't mind staying here overnight, even if i had to sleep in the corridors. =) now let me plan my vietnam trip...sigh
@steph Well, there are more affordable junks out there I believe. The one we stayed is a probably upper-middle level :)
I heard the high class junk cost US$250 a night :D
